1.High heat transfer coefficient
The heat transfer coefficient of plate heat exchanger is 3~5 times that of shell and tube heat exchanger.The main reason is that when the fluid flows in the shell side of the tube-shell heat exchanger, there are pass-ways between baffle-shell, baffle-tube, tube-bundle and shell. The fluid passing through these pass-ways does not fully participate in the heat transfer.In the plate heat exchanger, there is no bypass, and the corrugation of the plate can generate turbulence at a small flow rate, and the turbulence effect is obvious (it is turbulence when the Reynolds number is about 150), so a high heat transfer coefficient can be obtained.
2 .The logarithmic mean temperature difference is large
Two kinds of fluids in plate heat exchanger can realize pure counter-current, generally in the way of direct current or counter-current.But in shell and tube heat exchanger, two kinds of fluid flow in shell and tube respectively.In general, it is the flow mode of cross flow.Reduced the logarithmic mean temperature difference.Plate heat exchanger can realize temperature cross, terminal temperature difference can reach 1 ℃;Cannot achieve temperature cross tube heat exchanger (that is, the outlet temperature of the secondary side cannot export a temperature higher than that of primary side) terminal temperature difference can reach 5 ℃.

Because of the large NTU of the plate heat exchanger, the size of the heat exchanger is small when the heat is the same.In addition, the plate heat exchanger is compact in structure, the heat exchange area per unit volume is 2~5 times of that of the shell and tube heat exchanger, and there is no need to reserve a maintenance site for drawing out the tube bundle. Therefore, the floor area of the plate heat exchanger is 1/5~1/10 of that of the shell and tube heat exchanger.
The thickness of plate heat exchanger is only 0.6-0.8mm, and the heat transfer tube thickness of shell and tube heat exchanger is 2.0-2.5mm.The shell of shell heat exchanger is much heavier than the frame of plate heat exchanger.Therefore, with the same heat transfer, the heat transfer area required by the plate heat exchanger is smaller than that of the shell and tube heat exchanger, and its weight is about 1/5 of that of the shell and tube heat exchanger.
